Drywall Framing

Stud

Studdrw.gifFormed in a C-shape configuration, stud is the vertical element of the wall assembly which supports the vertical loads and/or transfers lateral loads.

Only PPR Studs are provided with Longitudinal stiffeners along the full length of the web of the stud to provide additional strength. Although longitudinal stiffeners significantly increase the overall strength of the stud, they are not included in the calculation of  structural properties.

studfeature.gifKnurling (Fig 3.5) is provided along the full length of the stud face (flange). This prevents screw ride (slipping of screws) thus eliminating accidental  damage to the building board. Knurling increases friction between the stud and the building board. It also minimizes moisture between the stud face and the building board.

Track

track.gifTracks are formed in a U-shaped configuration having web depth compatible with those of the stud of the same nominal size. Legs are angled at  88°  as shown in fig 2.3, to ensure that the studs held by friction.
